PO
In french, [PO] has different meaning.
It can be [po] as pot, or as "peau"(skin)
Pots are containers, flower pots. The hidden place where seeds sprouts: It contains,
protects.
In west Africa, they have the "canari". A big pot to cook, to keep fresh water, to store whatever, but invariably rounded. The pot is a symbolic form of the ultimate feminie quality of reproduction and gestation. It evokes the sacredness of the earth with it's ancient memories.
Only women can make it: clay is a female matter.
Clay, ground, mother earth. Each canari is symbolicaly a maternal belly.
meanwhile metal is for men. Extracted from the bowels of the earth, it needs precise knowledge
and strengh to be transformed and shaped. The secrets of its transformation are transmitted from man to man.
Between these two materials, I use the casting process. Fusion attaches them: they are glued together in the precise instant when the liquid metal enters in contact with
the ovoidal clay pot.
